Dear Colleagues,

We hope this message finds you well despite the continuing COVID-19 crisis.

It’s once again time for us to invite all of you to send us contributions for the next Newsletter of our Scaling Up Community of Practice (CoP). We welcome items of one-paragraph length reporting on recent scaling experience or research and upcoming events (with links, as appropriate). Please send your contributions to Johannes at jlinn@brookings.edu by March 19, 2020.

As you know, we now have the CoP website up and running at http://www.scalingcommunityofpractice.com. We recently posted the first CoP Working Paper on the website. It is Richard’s Kohl’s paper on cross cutting issues in scaling, which he prepared based on his review of the many fruitful discussions at our October 2020 workshop. It is an excellent piece, and we highly recommend it to you.

With the website active now, we also now will publish blog-length submissions there, rather than in the Newsletter. To start the ball rolling we request that you send us any submissions of blogs by the same deadline as the submissions to the Newsletter. After that we will be pleased to accept submissions on an ongoing basis with the intention to post one blog per month. If we get multiple submissions at any given time, we’ll organize a pipeline and let you know the expected wait. Blogs should be 800-1,000 words. They should not just report on activities, but present analytical insights and lessons, and — to the extent possible — provide embedded links to relevant evidence and documentation. The CoP’s Executive Committee will apply some editorial discretion. Please send any blog submissions to Johannes also, with copy to Larry at lcooley@msi-inc.com.

We also want to remind you that you can post materials on the webpages of any of the CoP’s working groups with which you are affiliated. Each Working Group has its own editorial policy. Please consult with the chairs of the relevant working groups if you have any questions.
